Job Description

The Pastry Sous Chef will exhibit creative baking and decorating talents, leading the staff in preparing high-quality and consistent pastries. This role focuses on improving guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operating budget and maintaining the highest sanitation and food standards.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience:

  • Option 1: High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
  • Option 2: 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major; 2 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional area.

Core Work Activities:

  • Leading Pastry Culinary Team: Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocating sound financial/business decision making.
  • Ensuring Culinary Standards: Developing new ideas, maintaining food standards, and supervising pastry preparation shifts.
  • Exceptional Customer Service: Providing services that exceed customer satisfaction and retention, setting a positive example, and empowering employees to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Maintaining Culinary Goals: Achieving and exceeding performance and budget goals, training employees in safety procedures, and managing inventories.
  • Supporting Training and Development: Participating in staff training on menu items, reviewing staffing levels, and ensuring fair administration of property policies.
